Ceiling on the loggia: design options

What should be the ceiling on the loggia? There are many different processing options, which have different characteristics, which are associated with the features and rules of its application. It is not desirable to violate them. The decoration should have a pleasant appearance and be well combined with the floor, as well as with the walls, so that the finished picture turns out to be truly perfect. At the same time, it is better to give preference to light materials that will not deteriorate due to temperature fluctuations.

Perhaps, the plaster itself is able to best satisfy the existing requests:

  • acrylic;
  • water emulsion;
  • gypsum

It can be used in glazed and open rooms. Inexpensive material is used to create unique designs – complex shapes and the usual plain ceiling. This is a budget option, and the coverage needs to be updated regularly.

Plasterboard is no less often bought to decorate the balcony, but it is absolutely not suitable for wet rooms, in which case the loggia must be glazed. Cladding does not require additional surface preparation, however, after installation, plasterboard can be decorated according to your own taste, using paint, wallpaper or, for example, decorative plaster. The material is inexpensive and hides communications well.

Wood, plastic and metal

Fans of eco-style will prefer a clapboard ceiling. Properly processed material will not only give the balcony a laconic and neat appearance, it will insulate the room and create the necessary sound insulation. Ecological material does not emit harmful substances. It is quite easy to install and durable. If we talk about the disadvantages of the coating, it is worth noting its tendency to catch fire and poor reaction to high humidity. However, special impregnation can somewhat improve the situation and create protection against mold and pests.

Plastic panels have diametrically opposite qualities. They are cheaper, do not rot and react normally to an increase in humidity. Unfortunately, the material burns out in sunlight and can catch fire. In a similar situation, it will release toxic substances. Plastic is not at all suitable for an open balcony, and it deforms at low temperatures. However, the panels are successfully operated on closed loggias. They perfectly level the surface and do not load the ceiling.

If you need a material that is not afraid of high humidity and low temperatures, as well as immune to the influence of microorganisms, you should choose metal treatment. It will hide all communicative elements and will not scare you with the potential possibility of spontaneous combustion. It is not very difficult to install and easy to clean, but the price of metal is not democratic at all.

A stretch ceiling is a great alternative. Moisture-resistant fabrics respond well to temperature changes. They form a perfectly even covering, which is installed at any desired height, hiding absolutely unaesthetic elements – pipes, wires, etc. The material does not belong to the list of the most affordable, but it is very diverse. A large number of drawings and textures attracts consumers, but they cannot install a stretch ceiling on their own. In this case, experience and availability of special tools are required.
