Several mistakes amateurs make during renovation or why a design project saves from embarrassment

How often, when visiting a housewarming party, have you noticed small flaws that catch the eye? And the repairs seem to be good and expensive, but the presence of flaws leaves a double impression.

Mistakes with skirting boards and ceiling cornices in the interior

The furniture is not pushed tightly against the wall, a gap is visible from the side between the wall and the cabinet. Everything is banal simple, first they installed the baseboards and only then brought in the furniture. It is a pity to tear off the baseboard, we will also damage the plaster, so this furniture stands without a third point of support (the wall, to which the cabinet furniture should fit tightly). And if you remember how much was paid for each meter of this baseboard, it becomes a little sad.
If you had a design project, this would not have happened. Firstly, the visualizations show a clear arrangement of furniture with all dimensions observed. Secondly, a competent designer and foreman would warn you that it is more expedient to install the baseboards after assembling the furniture.
A similar situation is with ceiling cornices, a sliding wardrobe in the ceiling, the cornice will have to be dismantled. Whether you can do this carefully depends on how it was originally installed.

Narrow skirting boards and borders are a designer’s sorrow. They can cheapen any interior. Many people still believe that skirting boards are needed to hide the joint between the floor covering and the wall, but this has long been wrong. This is the most important touch in the completeness of the interior. We pass by everything that is less than 8 cm in height. And do not forget about the pattern (profile) of the skirting board and cornice, it should match the overall style of the apartment.

Mistakes in the selection of doors and cabinet furniture

You have repeatedly encountered interiors in which the style and tone of the doors are at odds with the cabinet furniture in the apartment or with the kitchen set – most often this happens when no one even thought about the furniture at the renovation stage. And then, when choosing a kitchen, it turned out that the English classic lost to high-tech. This is how two different eras border on each other, turning the interior into a hodgepodge.

If the design project was made by a designer, he would be able to show the result at the stage of drawings and visualizations, which would help to exclude such inconsistencies. Furniture is selected in the same style as interior doors.

Mistake in choosing skirting boards and door trims

Many people are not aware that if the baseboard and the door frame matched in tone, the interior would look more harmonious. The junction of the baseboard and door frame made of different textures or shades of wood looks sad. The overall architectural motif that should unite everything into a single whole is lost.

It’s like a frame for a painting. The more expensive the frame, the more interest in the canvas.

Lack of proportion and balance in interior design

If your ceilings are less than 2.8 meters high, you should not overload them with voluminous moldings, make arches framed by columns. Overload the interior with carved furniture if the apartment is small. Such interiors look heavy and ridiculous.
